Job Summary

Ontrek Logistics Inc. is seeking a qualified and experienced Business Development Officer to join our team in Mississauga, Ontario. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and evaluating business development opportunities, conducting market and economic research, developing business and marketing strategies, and supporting the planning and implementation of business development initiatives.

This is a permanent, full-time, on-site position.

Responsibilities

The Business Development Officer will be responsible for:

• Developing policies and planning development projects.

• Supervising professional and support staff and students.

• Administering programs designed to promote industrial and commercial business investment in rural and urban areas.

• Performing administrative tasks related to business development activities.

• Developing venture capital sources.

• Recruiting and hiring staff.

• Responding to enquiries from members of the business community regarding development opportunities.

• Providing advice regarding procedures and requirements for government approval of development proposals.

• Conducting surveys and analyzing data relating to the buying habits and preferences of wholesale and retail consumers.

• Developing social and economic profiles of areas to encourage industrial and commercial investment.

• Conducting comparative research on marketing strategies for industrial and commercial products.

• Preparing reports, research papers, educational texts and articles.

• Providing consulting services to government and other organizations.

• Conducting analytical marketing studies.

• Conducting social and economic surveys at local, regional and international levels to assess development potential and future trends.

• Reviewing and evaluating commercial and industrial development proposals.

• Designing market research questionnaires.

• Developing a portfolio of marketing materials.

• Evaluating customer service and store environments.

• Designing, conducting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative research projects.

• Developing feasibility studies.

• Conducting online marketing, e-commerce and website promotions.

• Maintaining databases of potential franchisees, real estate locations and online buy/sell Internet sites.

• Preparing funding applications.

• Providing consultation regarding the planning and establishment of new businesses.

• Developing marketing strategies.

• Ensuring appropriate business and commercial licences are in place.

• Delivering presentations at conferences, workshops and symposia.

• Developing and implementing business plans.

Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor's degree

Experience:
3 years to less than 5 years of relevant experience

Language:
English

Work Environment

This position requires work to be completed at the employer's physical location in Mississauga, Ontario. There is no option to work remotely.
